As per IBPS tentative calendar, only 3 months are left for IBPS PO that means you should not waste time waiting for the official IBPS notification. If one wants to clear the exam, the right time is now to fold up your sleeves and start preparing. Let’s start by discussing the paper pattern of IBPS PO first.

The online test is conducted in two phases – Prelims & Mains. The candidates have to qualify in the prelims to appear for Mains exam followed by interview.

IBPS PO – Prelims & Mains Exam Pattern

Now that you have gone through the exam pattern, lets design a sound strategy to effectively manage time and cover the three main subjects i.e Quant, English & Reasoning. GK is to be studied on daily basis, so make a habit of going through Daily GK Updates and not depend on last day for reading in one sitting.

Set up a daily target. Try to cover one subject in one day and then alternate between all 3 subjects on subsequent days. Practice 3 major subjects and make sure to revise every subject based on your retention power. Focus on quality study and take regular breaks ideally after every 45-50 mins.

When you start give a mock test and see where you stand. Analyze test and note down your weaknesses and strengths. This will help you keep a check of your progress. For a smooth start, you should prioritise all the important topics of each section on paper.

English preparation

The basics for English remains the same i.e Vocabulary, Grammar and Comprehension. Read more and more as this will help you build good communication skill, understand the concept of grammar and improve vocab.

The biggest change we saw in quantitative aptitude is that it is not only the game of Data Interpretation, Simplification , Number series and Quadratic equations. If you want to score high in this section, practice all topics such as Simple Interest, Compound interest, Profit&Loss, Time & Work, Probability etc. Make a grip on all topics as the more you practice, the more you score.

Reasoning is slowly being formatted as the puzzle section. As we have seen in SBI PO mains 2017, even questions on directions were asked in the form of puzzles. So, best strategy is to practice all types of puzzles and while giving mock tests, try to eliminate puzzles that are too lengthy or tricky and looks difficult to solve. This can happen only if you have sound understanding of all kinds of reasoning questions asked in exam.

In banking exam, speed and accuracy is the key to crack the exam and that can only be attained by regular practice and discipline. Give regular mock tests and don’t forget to analyze your weaknesses in detail. Work on your weaknesses and convert them into your strengths.

Time is less, so start today and start now !!
